How to get your newborn to Saudi Arabia

Discover detailed methods and guidance on safely bringing your newborn to Saudi Arabia. From visa procedures to healthcare arrangements, our comprehensive guide ensures a smooth transition for you and your little one to this vibrant Middle Eastern destination.


Bringing your newborn to Saudi Arabia can be done either with an on-arrival visa or by applying through the Saudi embassy. Below, we explain both methods.


Three methods to get your newborn to Saudi Arabia:

How to get your newborn to Saudi Arabia

Method 1: On-Arrival Visa for the Newborn Baby (applicable only if the baby is less than 12 months old & if both parents have Iqama):


Documents for the on-arrival visa:

  • Birth certificate of the newborn.

  • Vaccination card of the newborn.

  • Copies of the parents' Iqamas. (both parents must have a valid Iqama)

  • Copies of the parents' passports.

  • Valid exit reentry visa of the mother.


Important Note:

  • The age of the baby must be less than 1 year.

  • The on-arrival visa for the newborn is free.

  • During check-in and immigration in your home country mention, "As per Saudi rules, if both parents have iqama and the newborn is less than 1 year old, the newborn is eligible for Visa on arrival.

  • It's best to book your flight through Saudi Airlines or any other airline within the GCC, they will be familiar with the rules of bringing newborns to Saudi Arabia.

  • When you arrive in KSA, immigration will check all documents stamp the passport, and write the Border number on the baby's passport.

  • The visa is by default linked to the father's Iqama. If the mother has a working visa, she can ask to link the newborn's visa to her Iqama at immigration.


Method 2: Apply for a Permanent family visa (applicable if both parents have Iqama)


Documents required for the Permanent family visa:

  • Newborn's original passport.

  • Birth certificate of the newborn - Arabic Translated.

  • Vaccination cards for the newborn.

  • Two photos of the newborn with a white background.

  • Mother's original passport.

  • Mother's valid exit reentry visa.

  • Copy of Mother's stamped visa

  • Copies of parents' Iqamas.

  • Father's passport copy.

  • Complete address of the father's employer in Saudi Arabia.

  • Absher paper showing Iqama expiry dates of both parents.


Submit all these documents to your agent or VFS, they will send them to the Saudi Embassy in your home country for a family visa.


Note:

  • There is no need to apply for a new visa from Saudi Arabia if both parents have Iqama.

  • Visa Stamping fees for the newborn may apply.

  • Once the visa is stamped you can book flights and arrive in KSA.


Method 3: Apply for a Family Visit Visa


This method has three steps as follows:


Step 1 - You need to apply for a Family Visit Visa in Saudi Arabia.

Step 2 - Submit the visa order for stamping via agent or VFS.

Step 3 - Once the visa is stamped you can book flights and arrive in KSA.
