Saudi Arabia's Attorney General and Chairman of the Council of Public Prosecutions, Sheikh Saud Al-Muajab, has sanctioned the creation of the Center for the Protection of Whistleblowers, Witnesses, Experts, and Victims, by the recently approved Law for the Protection of Whistleblowers, Witnesses, Experts, and Victims.
This initiative aims to safeguard individuals who provide crucial evidence in legal proceedings by offering various forms of protection, such as security measures, anonymity, relocation, employment assistance, and financial support.
The law also imposes penalties on those who attempt to harm or retaliate against protected individuals. By ensuring the safety and well-being of whistleblowers, witnesses, and victims, the law seeks to enhance cooperation in combating crimes and facilitating the sharing of vital information.
The law is set to take effect 120 days after its publication in the Official Umm Al-Qura Gazette on March 1, 2024.
